There are no small rights.

This may seem small. This may seem insignificant.

But PAY ATTENTION.

On June 30, 2026, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld West Virginia’s law banning participation by trans women and girls in women’s and girls’ sports teams.

Now, I don't really care about sports. Never have. But I do care about equity, justice, and liberation for all. And I sure care a hell of a lot when I see even the smallest rights taken away from anyone.

You might not be paying attention, either, because this seems like a tiny issue when there are so many other things to worry about.

But you know what isn't small? The amount of money that the right wing has invested into this "tiny" issue. Millions upon millions of dollars have been poured into the effort to make sure the trans people -- particularly trans women and girls -- are not allowed to play sports on teams with other women and girls.

Offices of Attorneys General, Departments of Education, legislators and legislative bodies across the country have spent uncounted tax payer dollars making sure that a small handful of trans people can't participate in this part of public life. And additional millions of right-wing-raised dollars go into trying each of these cases.

So, if this is a small issue, why the GIGANTIC investment? Because they know that this "small" issue is not small at all. It is a strategic, surgical attack on liberty of all people. They are working, bit by bit, to become the arbiters of human existence--to define for everyone what it means to be a person.

Because there are no small human rights.

It's time to note that this is a MAJOR effort to expand control over everyone's bodies, identities, and expressions. And trust me -- it's not going to stop at trans people playing sports.

This is YOUR issue. This is OUR issue. It's time to pay attention.
